As a new District Manager, you’ll participate in our nearly year-long training program. It’s a hands-on learning experience that immerses you in the day-to-day operations of ALDI and exposes you to our entire business. More than that, it’s our investment in you and your career at ALDI.
The first Phase of your training will be spent in the store developing your knowledge of daily operations, such as staff development, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, inventory and cash control. We’ll use this time to sharpen your problem-solving and decision-making skills, as well as build leadership abilities.
Phase I Training Plan
- 3 weeks with Peer Advisor
- 5 weeks of In-Store Training
- 1 week of Warehouse Training
- 6 weeks as Acting Assistant Store Manager
- 1 week of Store Training Overview
- 14 weeks as Acting Store Manager
- 1 week of Real Estate & Purchasing Training
- 6 weeks of District Manager Training, Phase I
In the second phase, you’ll be partnered with two District Managers who will help strengthen your entire skill set and prepare you to lead a district of your own.
- 1 week of Administration Training
- 6 weeks of District Manager Training, Phase II
- 1 week of Executive Training with the Vice President
- & Director of Operations
- 4 weeks’ managing your District with Supervision
- Various 1-week career development seminars

After the Program
Completing the District Manager training program is just the first step in the ALDI learning process. Your training and development continues throughout your career with a series of internal and external training seminars. We are committed to the continued development of our District Managers and provide specific training on effective hiring techniques, legal issues in retail, general leadership development, personal organization, diversity and other relevant topics. We want our District Managers to understand the ALDI process from beginning to end. That’s why we provide the opportunity to learn about our Corporate Buying process, National IT department, and Corporate Administration functions with an ALDI Seminar hosted at our corporate office. Learning and growth is a career-long process at ALDI, there’s always an opportunity for more.
The ALDI International Expatriate Program

For two years, you’ll be immersed in one of our many incredible locations worldwide. And you’ll gain the perspective and insight necessary to take your career even further within our organization.
Our philosophy of promoting from within extends beyond the sales floor. While the District Manager position is a rewarding and challenging career, our District Manager position is also designed to fill the Director positions within ALDI. Our Directors, Vice Presidents and Presidents started out as District Managers. We’re looking for individuals who want to advance within ALDI. Director positions within the divisional structure and corporate structure, including Director of Operations, Administration, Real Estate, Logistics and Purchasing are filled by District Managers who excel. There are also opportunities for advancement into Corporate IT and Corporate Logistics as well as in the Corporate Buying department.
